How long do NYC startups actually survive after raising venture capital?
About this data
Data covers NYC-based startups that raised venture capital and are tracked in the AlleyWatch NYC Funding Index (2010–present). Close dates available for approximately half of tracked shutdowns — companies without close dates are excluded from lifespan calculations but counted in totals. Lifespan is calculated as years from founding to closure. Cohort closure rates cover 2010–2021 founding years; cohorts from 2022 onward are excluded as insufficient time has passed.
